REQUESTING TO ABOLISH THE IMPLEMENTATION OF GOVERNMENT OF AUTHORISED TESTING CENTRE (GATC)- PRIVATISATION OF LEGAL METROLOGY DEPARTMENT IN KARNATAKA.
Bengaluru. Since 1958 Department of Legal Metrology, Karnataka, is playing a very important role and carrying on an applaud able job of verifying and stamping of all the newly manufactured as well as old but still fit for use weights and Measures Instruments from to time to time apart from conducting surprise inspections of the same at a the place of its use in order to prevent its misuse by the user indulging in any kind of malpractices with the inspections of the cheating the general consumers and general public, while doing so, they play a key role in protecting the interest of General Consumers and General public at large. By this Legal Metro logy Department is now preparing to implement GATC in Karnataka but Karnataka Metric Mens Association® opposed the GATC.
Mr. R. Ashok, President of Karnataka Metric Men’s Association® said ‘’Department or the Government have steeply increased the verifying and stamping fees for annual re-verification and re-stamping of the old but still fit for use Weighing Instruments from Rs 200 to Rs. 600, Whereas all other states are charging Rs. 200 only in order to facilitate, benefit and attract the private Party if offered in our state to earn Maximum profit and opposed GATC’’.
It is not all practical and wise decision to implement GATC and privatize the most efficient Department of Legal Metrology after our Government recently spent Crores and Crores of public Money on overall Development of the Department across the state by purchasing branded New standard test Weights, Weighing and Measuring Instruments,the most advance latest available Technology- Laptop Computers, Desktop Computers, Softwares, Printers, Hand Held online on spot Money Receipt generating electronic machines.
