A DREAM COME TRUE FOR MOHIT & KIRAN ; WINS SILVER & BRONZE MEDALS IN PATISSERIE AND CONFECTIONARY & PROTOTYPE MODELLING AT WORLDSKILLS ABU DHABI 2017
- A total of 13 Medals and Medallions to Team India; One silver, One bronze and 9 Medallions for Excellence across key skills
- India has secured a top 20 finish at Skills Olympics 2017
- 1300+ candidates participated across 59 countries competing across 51 skills
- 28 candidates participated in 26 trades from Team India in Abu Dhabi
Bangalore : As the nation celebrated Diwali, Team India created history by winning One Silver (Mohit Dudeja), One Bronze (Kiran Sudhakar) and Nine Medallion of Excellence at the 44th WorldSkills competition, Abu Dhabi. This is India’s best performance since it started participating at these competitions in 2007. The Indian team was competing with candidates from 59 other WorldSkills member countries.
Mohit Dudeja bagged a silver medal for Indian team at WorldSkills Competition 2017 in Patisserie and Confectionary. Mohit also won the“Best of Nation” award for receiving the highest marks among the India Contingent. He scored above China, Switzerland, Canada, Korea and UK.
Kiran Sudhakar bagged a bronze medal for Indian team at WorldSkills Competition 2017 in Prototype Modelling. He scored better than the other competing countries like Brazil, Russia, Germany and Switzerland. Kiran’s training expert Bhaskar Singh (Deputy Chief Expert) has been elected to perform his responsibility in Prototype modelling category at the next WorldSkills competition scheduled in 2019 at Kazan, Russia.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Dream of Skilled India was popularised at the WorldSkills Competition held at Abu Dhabi and gained international recognition. On Behalf of The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Mr. Kaustav Nath, State Engagement Officer Karnataka and Goa of National Skill Development Corporation received and felicitated Team India at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru on Friday. He conveyed and communicated the congratulatory message of Hon’ble Skill Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan and Shri Anant Kumar Hegde Hon’ble Minister of State, MSDE.
Mohit Dudeja who is 20 year old, currently holds the position of an Assistant Pastry Chef in research and development at India’s first specialised baking school, Lavonne Academy of Baking Science & Pastry Arts, Karnataka, India. An alumnus of Lavonne, he graduated with a Diploma in Patisserie offered by the institute in affiliation with City & Guilds, London in 2016. Following his training, he interned at the Trident Hotel, Mumbai for 3 months before returning to his alma mater to serve on the team of pastry chefs. A stellar feat for a professional as young and as talented as Mohit, he has also been to Korea as part of his training for WorldSkills 2017 where he enhanced his skills in Sugar Art. Mohit has also competed in various national and international competitions such as JPC, India and WorldSkills UK. He practices Yoga and participates in marathons
Kiran is an ITI Electrician hails from Karkala, Karnataka. He is a 19 year old technocrat who loves to play cricket and listen to music. His aim has always been to work hard and do whatever it takes to perfect his
skill and thus participated in the India Skills competition where he succeeded by winning the Gold medal. Kiran has made his country proud after successful in last week’s Skills Olympics.
Besides, the two other candidates Anant Kumar & Varun Gowda from Karnataka have grabbed a Medallion of Excellence in Mechatronics. They have scored above UK, Korea, Germany, France, USA and Singapore.

I would like to specially congratulate Kiran for winning a bronze medal and Anant & Varun for securing Medallion of Excellence. These young candidates have worked really hard to make their State and Nation proud. Their success should be celebrated in order to motivate and promote the development of the country’s skilled talent. Our preparation for the next WorldSkills will begin soon and I encourage more and more youth to participate and have the honour to represent the country at such international levels to retain these medals in various trades.”

WorldSkills India is an initiative of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), which has been leading India’s participation at WorldSkills International competitions since 2011. This was done to create an aspiration around the pursuit of skills training in our country and benchmark the skillsets of our youth against their counterparts in other parts of the world.
