INDEFINITE OVERNIGHT PROTEST IN FREEDOM PARK OVER THE SILENCE OF PRIME MINISTER MODI ON KALASA BANDURI PROJECT
Bangalore : An indefinite overnight public protest has been organised from February 1 at the Freedom Park to protest against the failure of political parties to resolve the issue of Kalasa-Bandur I canal project.
The agitation led by Jana Samanya Party will also protest the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue, Party President Dr D Ayyappa said here at a press conference at the Party office.
He said that no decision has been taken over the sharing of water of Mahadayi river and all political parties were playing politics at the expense of the farmers.
To resume work on the Kalasa-Banduri project all that is required is a no objection letter from the Prime Minister or the Government of India. Jana Samanyara Paksha has written a letter to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 22, 2018, seeking a no objection letter. All efforts were made to reach the Prime Minister. However, the prime minister who has time to respond to even trivial issues has remained mum over the burning issue of Kalasa-Banduri.
While the burning issue of Kalasa-Banduri remains unresolved it is not right for the prime minister to visit Bangalore for State BJP’s Parivartan Yatra.
The Prime Minister should intervene and issue a no objection letter on the sharing of the Mahadayi water failing which there is no need for the prime minister to be present in the state, Dr Ayyappa said.
Present at the press conference were Party’s founder-president T V Satish, litterateur Chandrashekar Patil among others.
