MANGALURU: If JDS(S) leaders HD Deve Gowda, HD Kumaraswamy and HD Revanna are too religious and start their major tasks only after offering prayers in temples, their party workers too are not far behind.

The Mangaluru South Constituency unit of the ruling JD(S) is all set to offer special pooja at an endowment temple in the city just to pray that the first budget session be a smooth affair without any obstacles.

When chief minister HD Kumaraswamy is all set his first budget of the coalition government on July 5, JD(S) leaders in Dakshina Kannada district will seek divine blessings for the smooth functioning of the assembly session.

Party leaders have decided to offer special prayers and pooja at Kadri Sri Manjunatha Temple at 12pm on Wednesday.

It may be recalled that former chief minister Siddaramaiah had made statements at Dharmastala opposing Kumaraswamy’s plans of presenting fresh budget.

However, JD(S) leaders say that their prayers are just to make the path for Kumaraswamy smooth on July 5.

“JD(S) leaders in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi have decided to offer special prayers for chief minister HD Kumaraswamy. Party leaders in other districts too may offer prayers in temples in their regions. Here, we will hold special prayers during the Mahapooje at Kadri Temple. We will offer a special Pooja in Kumaraswamy’s name with the prayers that the budget session be smooth. Prayers and Pooja will be held on behalf of our party exclusively for our chief minister,” said Vasantha Poojary, president, JD(S) Mangaluru South Constituency.

Poojary added that party workers will pray for Kumaraswamy’s health and also to ward off all evils and enmity.

Pooja so that the loot goes on.

Former minister K Amarnath Shetty, JD(S) district president Mohammed Kunhi and state vice-president MB Sadashiva will be participating in the prayers.

Later, we will hold a meeting in our party office to discuss about the upcoming election to Mangaluru City Corporation Council, he said.
