PNB METLIFE JUNIOR BADMINTON CHAMPIONSHIP (JBC) – ONE OF BIGGEST NATIONAL OPEN PLATFORM TOURNAMENT FOR BADMINTON, REACHES BENGALURU!
• Approved by Badminton Association of India (BAI), the 5th season of JBC gets bigger with the launch of JBC Boot Camp, the online tutorial that hosts sessions from the badminton stalwarts
Bengaluru : The badminton enthusiasts of Bengaluru are all set to witness on-court battles by future prodigies, as PNB MetLife India Insurance Company Limited (PNB MetLife), among the top 10 private life insurance companies in India (fiscal 2019, Source: CRISIL), launches the PNB MetLife Junior Badminton Championship (JBC) – Season 5, one of the biggest national open Badminton tournament in the city. Officially inaugurated by P.V. Sindhu, the Olympic medallist and brand ambassador of PNB MetLife and U. Vimal Kumar, National badminton champion and coach, in Hyderabad on July 4, 2019. Bengaluru is the 5th city of this year’s JBC tournament, which is scheduled to be held across 10 cities of India.
As a part of the Company’s commitment to take Badminton to the grassroots, this year JBC reaches a notch higher with the launch of JBC Boot Camp, a customized YouTube channel to aide budding Badminton enthusiasts, that hosts sessions from stalwarts like P.V. Sindhu, U. Vimal Kumar, Vijay Lancy, Anup Sridhar and many more. The tutorials can be viewed on YouTube/PNB MetLife JBC Boot Camp.
The Bengaluru leg of JBC Season-5 was inaugurated by Rajesh P., Secretary, Karnataka Badminton Association; Sagar Chopra, former international player and Sayali Gokhale, former international badminton player & present coach, Indian Junior Team. 1100 young shuttlers from the city registered for participating in the tournament.
The fifth edition JBC tournaments are being hosted in 10 cities – Chandigarh, Mumbai, Pune, Kochi, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Guwahati and New Delhi. The matches will be played in four age categories – Under-9, 11, 13, 15 and 17 for boys and girls. The top two kids from each category from every city tournament will proceed to the national finale in New Delhi where they will get a chance to be felicitated with the National Title by P.V. Sindhu.

Aligned to this agenda, we have recently launched the JBC Boot Camp, where the badminton aspirants from across the country will get a chance to learn from the stalwarts about the techniques of the game, mental ability, fitness, nourishment and so on.”
With an aim to create a sustainable social impact, Junior Badminton Championship is also associated with CRY (Child Rights and You), as a CSR partner. Over the past four years as a part of its CSR initiative, PNB MetLife has been providing annual scholarships to the underprivileged children across India for coaching and training. This year already 100 underprivileged children have been trained for the JBC – Season 5, out of which 32 children will be awarded an annual scholarship to pursue Badminton as a sport.
