Bengaluru: R. Gundu Rao is the one who has taken pride in being a pro-people CM
Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that the credit for doing pro-people work as an efficient Chief Minister should go to R. Gundu Rao.
He spoke after unveiling the statue of former Chief Minister R. Gundu Rao, which has been newly built near the KSRTC bus stand in the city. He said that he was responsible for the launch and implementation of several projects as the Chief Minister of the state at a very young age.
R. Gundu Rao is the first in the entire country to implement huge administrative projects in the state. He gave priority to several sectors when he was the Chief Minister. But the way he established more medical and engineering colleges in the state and was also responsible for the growth of the education sector is special. The formation of the Hyderabad Karnataka Welfare Board by including some districts of North Karnataka, which was a very backward region, is a testament to his administrative efficiency. He said that he named the road opposite the Vidhan Soudha along with the statue of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar after Ambedkar.
When Devaraj Urs formed another party, Gundu Rao remained in the Congress. Immediately after the elections, the Congress party won many seats and became the Chief Minister. At that time, Indira Gandhi’s influence was also in the state. The most important thing is that Indira Gandhi, who was the Prime Minister at that time, was a close associate of Sanjay Gandhi. He said that I had met and talked to her when I was in the Janata Party.
Speaking, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said that when Gundu Rao was the Chief Minister, many development projects came up and they were implemented effectively. Gundu Rao laid the foundation for information technology for the first time in Bengaluru. He said that he established himself as an efficient politician at the state and national levels and gained a huge fan base.
Minister Bosaraju, former minister H.M. Revanna, former minister Rani Satish, MLA Rizwan Arshad, Chief Minister’s Parliamentary Secretary Nasir Ahmed, Chief Whip Salim Ahmed, former MP Prasanna Kumar, Karnataka Brahmin Development Board President Jayasimha, former Advocate General Ashok Haranahalli and others were present.
“Chief Minister R. Gundu Rao, as a result of his foresight, was responsible for building the best city bus stand for a metropolis. This is special because it has received immense recognition in the entire country. It can be said that there is no such stand in any city in the country. It was inevitable to install his statue at this place”. Chief Minister Siddaramaia.
