Last year, a target of 1,03,000 crores was set for tax collection, and an additional 17,000 crores of tax collection was achieved. This year, a target of 1,20,000 crores has been given for tax collection, and the officers have to exceed the target. Government committed to bring reforms in tax process
Even though I am the Finance Minister, I do not want to interfere unnecessarily in the functioning of tax officers. But the officers should try to achieve the tax collection target given to the department. Tax evasion is at a high level in Bengaluru. Karnataka is at the forefront in tax collection. The government is committed to bringing more reforms in the tax payment process. The government will examine the demands of the Tax Officers’ Association. The government will always respond to the fair demands of government employees. Similarly, the government will also take disciplinary action against officers and employees who commit dereliction of duty, he said.
