Bengaluru: The dream we see is the initial stage of building our own world. Once we recognize our passion towards providing a unique service, the desire to see it in this way increases. Without dreams, no creation or achievement is possible Today, in the month of June 2025, we stand in the celebration of achievement. That day, in the month of June 1975, in the hamlet of Nada (K.D.) in Indi taluk of Bijapur district, today’s Vijayapura district, Mr. N. B. Tontapur, who was the first to graduate from the district with a B.A. degree, said that what kind of contribution we give to the society is more important than what the society gives us. The society and the people of the community should be developed. My father, N. B. Tontapur, was the one who fulfilled his dream of strengthening the community socially, politically, economically and educationally and bringing it to the forefront. In June 1975, through the field of journalism, the fourth arm of democracy, my father, under the leadership of my grandfather, Bhimanna Tontapur, launched the first newspaper of the society called ‘Kanaka Weekly’ in the presence of the then officers of the Karnataka Pradesh Kurubaran Sangha Gandhinagar, A. B. Mariyappa, N. Mallappa, Prajavani editor B. Nagaraj, Bidar Humanabad Parampujya Siddaya Madhana Wodeyar and the then office bearers of the Kurubara Sangha.
In 1975, my father N. E. Tontapur was working as a social welfare officer and after my grandfather passed away, he handed over the editorship of the newspaper to my mother, Mrs. Sasikala Tontapur. Later, in addition to running the Kanaka newspaper, I started the Kanaka Express Media Group in 2000 and have been providing several development programs to the community under the leadership of this organization.
Since 2014, I have been providing administrative services to the members of the Central Public Service Commission, Karnataka Public Service Commission, Police Sub Inspector, etc., to the members elected to the Municipal Corporation, Town Panchayat, Mahanagara Palike, and to the achievers who have received the Rashtrapari, Medal, Chief Minister’s Medal, and SSLC. By recognizing the students who have scored the highest marks in PUC, giving them talent awards, and by recognizing everyone in the society and bringing them to the forefront, ‘Kanaka Pati’ is celebrating its 50th anniversary today. On this auspicious occasion, the ‘Kanaka Chetana Award’ is being presented by the Savjieran organization of the Golden Jubilee to achievers who have served in various fields. 50 achievers and organizations are receiving this award.
In addition, an award ceremony will be held for the President and Chief Minister’s Medal Awarded Police Officers, retired officers of the society, and for the achievers of the society who have contributed to the society, and a free workshop will be organized by Shri J.B. Badayakumar of the Insight IAS Training Institute, which is renowned in the country, and the officers of the society for the competitive exam candidates of the community.Thank you all for your cooperation as always for this auspicious event of the Golden Jubilee they said.
