India deploys MiG-29 & Jaguar jets for multi-nation Desert Flag exercise in UAE

New delhi: India has deployed MiG-29 and Jaguar fighter jets for the ‘Desert Flag’ exercise in the UAE, showcasing its commitment to strengthening defense ties with friendly nations.  The exercise aims to enhance interoperability and exchange operational knowledge with air forces from the US, UK, and other countries.  This participation underscores India’s focus on military cooperation and defense-industrial collaboration in the region.India has deployed MiG-29 and Jaguar fighter jets for the multi-nation Desert Flag’ exercise at UAE. 

“Participation in such exercises strengthens mutual understanding, interoperability and military cooperation between the participating nations. The IAF’s participation underlines India’s commitment to strengthening defence ties and interoperability with friendly nations in the region and beyond,” he said.

The exercise comes after India had decided to enhance their bilateral defence cooperation in areas ranging from military exercises to defence-industrial collaboration, during a meeting on April 8 between Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Dubai Crown Prince and UAE Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The exercise comes after India handed over the indigenous Akash air defence missile system to the UAE.

This is in line with India’s continued push to export the Akash system, Pinaka multi-launch rocket systems and Brahmos supersonic cruise missiles to “friendly countries”, especially in the Gulf and ASEAN regions.
