
Mr. Raghunath has been elected as the new president of the state unit of the All Karnataka Brahmin Mahasabha.

Bengaluru: Businessman Mr. Raghunath has been elected as the new president of the state unit of the All Karnataka Brahmin Mahasabha. He defeated his rival Bhanuprakash Sharma, a Vedic scholar from Srirangapatna, by a margin of 2,611 votes.
There are 66 thousand voters in the state, out of which 34 thousand voters are in the Bangalore urban area. Of these, 24,574 people voted in the elections held on Sunday. In the subsequent counting of votes, Sharma got 11,235 votes, while S. Raghunath got 13,339 votes.
In the last election, S. Raghunath had lost to Ashok Haranahalli by 447 votes. This time, Bhanuprakash Sharma won with the support of Ashoka: Haranahalli. R. Laxmikant, who lost last time, supported him with his team.
This is the first time that elections have been held to elect a representative from each district of the state. Polling booths were set up in 21 districts of the state (districts with more than 1000 votes), including Bangalore City. Arrangements were made for the people of the respective districts to vote there.
